Looking south from JP43bh

We decided to activate 2 rare squares in the western part of Norway on 144MHz tropo, meteorscatter and aurora.

Operators of LA6K: LA4XGA, LA7DFA, DH3YAK and DL8EBW.

We had some problems with amplifiers during the stay. LA7DFA's GS35b broke down after about 24 hrs, then we had to use a small transistor PA (130W) until LA4XGA went with 4 ferries to his QTH and got his amplifier. Unfortunately it also worked for 24 hours..., so the last night & morning in JP43 we had to run 130W again. Cable losses were low, due to LA4XGA's 1-1/4 inch Heliax cable straight from the antenna feedpoint to the shack. We managed to work 39 MS QSO's from Smoela island. The 6M operation was crippled by the 144MHz PA problems (using PSU for 2M transistor PA). Due to relatively low solar activity 2,3 & 4 May, we had poor Auroral propagation from JP43 but managed to work 60 QSO's from JP33. QSO total (JP33+43) = approximately 120.

QSL has been sent via the bureau for all contacts.     QRX...   :-)
